Warning for long term games.
I'm really surprised no one seems to have posted this before but I believe the regens/freds (whatever you want to call them) are flawed. I noticed it in my 2nd season and have played on until 2011.
First of all, I'm not talking about the known bug about player reputations not rising so that 10 yrs into the game international sides are still picking the same players as in 2007. Also these examples are with England, Scotland, Italy and Spain leagues running, all playable with 12 total leagues).
I'm talking about regens in general. Just a few examples. Looking purely at regens, 4 years into the game the fastest regen has pace 17. There are 6 guys with 17 speed, 5 of them are GK. (A side point, of those 5 G/K 4 have jumping under 10). I know the world is getting fatter so mb SI have taken this into account? -)
The highest value of any of those players btw is 160k which is not surprising since they are terrbile and their physical attributes don't match their position (v similar to the major bug in a previous version). Most centre backs that you would consider the best regens have jumping under 10. E.g. there are 1139 centre backs aged 19 or below, but with jumping of at least 15 there are just 57. However, when I went back to the start of the game in 2007 I found there were 1360 centre backs 19 or below then and of those, only 107 had jumping of at least 15. Still seems v low...could it be a random generator is set too low for certain stats/attributes.
If you look at the under 19 sides of the main countries selected, Italy, Spain, England.....the standard of regens is really poor. I'm not talking about value, which may be effected by the known bug about reps not rising. And I'm not talking about just stats (though this certainly seems wrong too). Physical stats often don't seem to match their positions, and as for technical stats there is just generally a lot less young talent even 4 seasons into the game.
Also, not sure if there is a reason for this to do with my game settings but by 2011 Man U's under 18 team is completely, 100% made up of greys. Not a single real player there. England is a playable league. Not sure why this is, Arsenal and Liverpool have about half greys, half real players.
This needs looking into a lot further but hopefully one of the testers can do that. Anyway, a few stats using done as Arsenal manager in 2007 and 2011.....
in 2007 of players aged at most 19.....(2011 figures in brackets) 15829 total players at these ages(14384 in 2011).
pace 18 or above 52(21)
pace 17 or above 157(72)
jumping 18 or above 58(11)
jumping 17 or above 110(30)
18 yr old players valued at 2m or above in 2007=32 (in 2011...3).
Consider that some of the 2011 figures are skewed somewhat by the guys that were not regens but just 15 or under in 2007. Even not taking this into account, the total number of players has gone down by 10% but the players in those categories have gone down almost 60% in pace and around 75% in speed. Like I say, taking into account some of those guys that do have good speed/jumping etc the downward spiral is probably much worse.
I know all of this is v small sample size and proves nothing but I think it warrants someone taking a detailed look at the regens because at the v least it seems it needs tweaking somewhat.
I'm not having a go at anyone, I'm just pointing out you may be wasting your time if you are starting a long term game. For me it's the only reason I play the game so I'd really like to hear an official opinion on whether this could be looked at and possibly corrected if necessary. I will re-post this in the bugs forum but I think more people will see it here and it's important to consider it before starting long term games.
Thanks
