Sunday 2nd July BBC News
Liverpool chairman Tom Hicks has named a former legend as Liverpool manager. Luca Dobson, who captained a famous Liverpool side in 1984 to the Champions League and who lifted numerous Premier Leagues, will take the burden as he will become the latest man to try and bring the title back to Merseyside.
I read this with mixed joy. I was relieved that my inexperience as a manager hadn't been mentioned. Next, I had to worry about the press conference...
Sat next to Tom Hicks and George Gillett, I prepared for my first of hopefully many press conferences. So, Mr. Dobson, how do you feel about becoming the new Liverpool manager?
It's a dream come true. I supported a great Liverpool team as a kid, played for them in the golden era and now it is a honour to take over this great football club. You obviously know the club well, do you think that you are the right man for the job?
Well if George and Tom think so, then so do I. What about your lack of experience, do you think that could hinder your progress?
I wouldn't say that I have a lack of experience, I've learned from the best. Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan and Kenny Dalglish all taught me a lot about being a manager and now I can put my theories into practice. Will you make any changes to the squad?
I have a few ideas but for now I'd like to wait until I meet the squad befor making my final judgements. Your fist competitive match will be against Chelsea in the Community shield, will you be ready for the match?
I'm ready now. I'm looking forward to getting started and I can't wait. Thank you Mr. Dobson
Thank you.
As I walked out of the press conference I felt satisfied with what had happened. I went home then, excited to meet the squad tomorrow.
