2) why did bolton beat man utd at the weekend despite their respective league positions, manager achievements (fergie 20 yrs at the top, megson has won nothing) and gulf in class of players? Same answer, its football. It wouldn't be a very exciting game if you won every game.
3) 4-4-2 does work with the correct tweaks and players. You will probably find 4-3-1-2 played IRL (or a variation) especially on the continent. Argentina often use this system with Messi and Tevez upfront and Riqueleme just behind pulling the strings and then 3 in midfield.

1.) I understand what you are saying. but on the previous games (and in real football) players do not take continuous long shots and consistantley blaze them over the bar regardless of the tactic or instructions.
2.) the point I was trying to get across is that it is blatant that for some reason it has been programed into the game that you will, at some point, experience a slump regardless of the form and quality of the team(s) you are facing
3.) fair enougth but that is one team. I have never seen a team play with this tactic as in the most cases it would not be effective way to play football.
I presume that the these problems in the game are because SI have changed their staff meaning they have had to produce an inferior game engine to previous editions of the usually class FM series. Either that or they are so clever they have made it extremley difficult to forge an effective tactic that is similar to the real life game of football.
