Possibly the worst team to get into the Prem, but unfortunately my home team! I always play them, and with alot of success............till FM08!
I just can't seem to get a decent finish in my first/second season. It does'nt seem to help with the revamped tactics. I've managed to sign the following players
Bogdan Stancu
Gabriel Torje
Ignashevich
Lulinha (in Jan 08)
Kallon (free)
Which greatly improve my squad but not enough!
So I was wondering has any DCFC FM managers acheived what I find impossible...a decent first season finish, and if so how?

with the likes of ignashevich, stancu, earnshaw, d.jones, barnes and torje n co... should be easy to finish in a mid-ish position first season...
.. with a team like derby, its a waiting game really... build up the team slowly... if you survive the first season id count that as a success tbh

I know.should be fairly straight forward...........start with 10-12m,........buy the tried and tested players......finish mid-table!
Never pans out like that in 08!
I think it's a tactics issue tbh. But the problem being finding/creating a decent tactic for Derby is far harder than one finding a successful one for a bigger club.

In my 2nd season as Derby. NOT a Derby fan but the challenge appealed to me. Finished 15th which was a great achievement! Dominating in my 2nd season, 3rd after 12 games! Beat Everton 6 - 1 on first day of season!

Sign Piatti and Aaritalo, they are goal machines.

Playing 4 - 3 - 1 - 2. Havnt changed it since day 1 and it seems to work.

For Derby a must sign is Eddie Johnson from Kansas for his min fee 2.6m works very well with Feilharber

Well its funny cause Im playing as spurs and in my first season I finished 6th and now Im porbably going to finish 5th. Derby are contending and beat me 3-0 at there place. Doesn't look like they have signed any heavy hitters Billy Davies is just doing a knock up job. I wanted Giles Barnes but they would not sell unless for 35 mil(American) plus.

i agree with paggioram, i signed eddie johnson, he scored 17 goals first season, and then the second season he was prem top goalscorer with 27, third season he won player of the year, and then AC milan bought him of me !! i was gutted !! so hes a must buy !!

Also try gettin vayranen i think ya spell it, he plays for PSV and a good little player....

i also managed to get justin hoyte from arsenal for a loan deal, and second season i managed to sign him and he was well good !!

As for tactics, i had a 4-4-2 formation, but the two wingers having runs right down to the by-line... nothing else much complex...
