Default Lampard to force a transfer

Liverpool fan in peace, just reading the latest in Frank Lampards incredibly prolonged contract negotiations.

Obviously we went through similar with Gerrard so this is a genuine post.

Lampard states he has now decided to leave all negotiations until the end of the season, this will mean he has 12 months remaining on his contract, can buy himself out of his contract for about £5 million (I think it is the equivilant of his remaining salary ?) and put him in a stronger position to either force a transfer to a foriegn team at a massively reduced fee or get a huge new contract.

I know he keeps saying 'I love Chelsea, want to remain etc .....' but does this sound a little hollow after all his badge kissing, i'll sign for life rubbish.

Unlike many, I'm not doubting his value to Chelsea, but after JT signed for £135K a week, surely Lampard was offerred an increased contract but obviously not enough to convince him to stay.

Your thoughts ? Is he a typical self obsessed footballer, bleeding the club, wrapped up in his own worth ? or is he worth every penny ?

With Essien and Mikel also in midfield he faces many challenges this year.

I remember Roy Keane getting immense grief from fans about holding out for a contract which people thought was putting the clubs transfer budget in jeopardy. He had no intention of leaving United but knew what he was worth. There was no doubt that Keano deserved every penny of his wages right up until he left.

Can Lampard say that? I dont think so.

He is fat, when he runs around he squashes the pitch and cost Stamford bridge lots of wages for groundsman.
