I absolutely love Iniesta, have done for 2-3 years, but it makes it a really tough choice when choosing between them. Tempted to call it about equal, but that would be biased towards Iniesta imo, so Fabregas is slightly better for me by that well thought out ramble/deduction.

Xabi Alonso > both though btw.

Iniesta eclipsed by Cesc? Cesc (and Torres, and Villa, and Ramos...) will play the Euro because of Iniesta.

I prefer Iniesta, mainly because he is technically better than Cesc. I don’t see many differences in others aspects of the game, maybe Cesc has more stamina but I guess it’s due to the lack of training at Barça. Well Iniesta is more versatile than Cesc.

That said, Iniesta is an attacking midfielder while Cesc is a playmaker (a box-to box player in the making). So they are different players and compatible.

Re Xavi:
When Barça has the possession of the ball, Xavi is great (not as great as he used to be before his knee injury in 2006), second best playmaker of the world after Pirlo imo, but when the game goes physical or the other team increases the pressure he offers nothing.
The last Barça game was on freview in UK, isn’t it? First half, I thought that Xavi was finally playing well for Barça (he’s been outstanding for Spain tbf), Second half, I was wrong, as soft as ever.

Oh and who-ever said Iniesta was a player to come off the bench and score a goal, Iniesta isn't much of a goalscorer.

i didn't mean he would score a goal, but whenever i've seen him come on, iniesta seems to inject some urgency into the match. think Edgar Davids under Radi Antic. saved barcas blushes with his dogged performances.

it's not that i'm not an iniesta fan, in fact before the the season before the champions league final, iniesta was my favorite barca midfielder (after Luis Enrique). but lets face it, fan fave or not, if barca signed Cesc this coming summer, iniesta would be further down the pecking order. which would mean

fabregas > iniesta.

pardon my ignorance, but who does aragones prefer?

Aragones is a twat (first time i've used this word).

And if Iniesta always injects some urgency into the match, as you put it, then why shouldn't he start? Ofcourse you wouldn't notice him improving the team because he was in the first eleven, but the team would definately play better football.

Iniesta > Fabregas IMBiasedO

True story.

In relation to this discussion I do prefer Iniesta to Fabregas marginally though.

Many very good players, but a good side? Really?

They should be, and consistely too, but since I started watching international football in 1990 I've yet to see them seriously challenge for anything with a number of supposedly talented sides sadly.
