I dont get most of these posts.....FM 2008 fully patched is arguably the greatest sports sim ever invented.

Now... I was experiencing the too "many long shots bug", and the high amount of "1 v 1's" but what you have to do is actually put some thought in your tactics and you'll notice that these bugs decrease significantly.

Yes, this game is hard but that does not make it buggy.....I think when you stretch the system...by that I mean, create super human strikers or design nutty, other worldly tactics, bugs will pop up everywhere...But if you play within the SPIRIT OF THE GAME, play realisticly, this is a great great game.....yes, it could use another patch, but right now it the best FM yet.

For me, I want the great clubs to be great like IRL and I want the bad clubs to be bad like IRL...Guess what? You get there here in this game. I am currently managing AS Roma and if I compare my league table with the real league table it is crazy how close it is. That is what I want in this game and that is what I am getting. The ME is slightly buggy...the 1st beta patch made the ME an actual football match, the 2nd beta..not so much, fully patched though, it is brilliant, This is the most real thing out there.

On a side note, i dont get the people who want to go back to the 2nd beta..I can understand going back to the 1st but the 2nd???? the closing down bug ruines it... Anyway

Yes, FM 2007 was awesome, we all loved it. And no FM 2008 is not a big improvment, but they did somehow make a great game even greater.

tbh i enjoyed it before patch, and enjoy it now, I find alot of people like to moan about the game, no matter how small the problems can be (fair enough there is the odd big problem)

it is still my favourite management game so no complaints ere :thup:

People have different priorities as to what makes a game good. I think the hardcore FM players really care about the basics: match engine, transfers and player development. If there are bugs in those areas, SI should expect a huge uproar.

SiN8, ok i get that, very good point but what is so bad about the match engine? It is not perfect but it is darn good!

i'm loving it but have faith that SI will always work hard to make the game better. there's always room for improvement

I personally think the match engine isn't too bad post-patch. It was definitely unacceptable pre-patch with the lack of closing down.

However, I do understand the complaints about long shots/sot ratio/1 on 1. It was also apparent in FM07 and should have been fixed in 08.

I haven't installed any patches on FM08 yet. Basically I hate this game so far, its the worst one in the series in my opinion.

The main problem is that if I concede a goal first I lose. I have looked back across my season and I have managed to pull a goal back in this dsituation about twice. In a whole season!

The oposition always score an early goal. I have wasted the last 2 hours, have quit and am deciding whether to bother with it anymore, but after reading this, will the patches make any difference? Will any of the many things I detest about FM08 change?

Sorry for the rant but this is a culmination of many identially rubbish gos on FM 06 - 08 with the same problems every time.

You're not missing anything. There are a couple of trivial issues, but this game continues to amaze me, and ruin my social life in equal measure.
