Default Lost that passion?

Well, after some due consideration, I decided to abandon my most recent FM08 save. Simply put, it was taking too long to process, and reading threads like Craig's where he averages a season a day just made me feel disenchanted - and a little jealous.

Obviously, I wanted to get straight back into it, but I seem to have an affliction that even Frank can't resolve. I find it incredibly hard to get excited about the prospect of managing any team, no matter where in the world, or what gimmick the club has in store. Probably through burnout, I have completely lost the passion. I've considered maybe managing my home club Melbourne Victory to help fuel the fires, or maybe changing it up and managing in the MLS like I've always wanted, but the strength and structure of those leagues make managing there a little hollow.

By no means am I asking for someone to recommend a club to challenge me - I'm a slightly more seasoned LLaMa and forumite than that - but I am asking if anyone has had the same problem, and how they overcame it. Do I need a visit to the local pitch to rekindle the love affair? Maybe a little time in the wilderness that is real life?

Distraught of East Melbourne.

Some of us had the same feeling in different versions before. It's normal. Don't force yourself to play, if you don't want to. See, how you'll feel in a couple weeks time.

Nothing rekindles the passion like a break. I went a few weeks not playing 07 and came back refreshed.
Now I only play FM at weekends and it works a treat for me.

I'm suffering this right now. I completely burned myself out on FM07 and now I'm having a hard time getting myself going on 08.

I have half a season done in Hungary but I haven't touched that for a while. Tried loading up a game with all Asian leagues for something different - can't bring myself to reload the save.

I have a suspicion that I'll probably end up back in the UK, probably with Blyth or East Stirling (as these are the two teams I've only ever had a long career game with) once the patch is released and maybe that will rekindle the spark.

Or not. I've had this feeling for other games and in general my enthusiasm for gaming on the whole has waned as of late. I think its called the Gaming Blues.

Quite possibly. Video gaming has been my primary past time for almost 20 years. Maybe it isn't FM burnout but gaming burnout altogether.

Thankfully I have plenty of other interests but I'd find it sad to fall out of the gaming loop completely. Particularly after only discovered FM 2 years ago. (And then playing it into the ground.)

Try putting the game on holiday for 10+ years. What the game throws up after that Is what I find the most enjoyable.

I'm actually a bit tired of the game currently too.

Possibly because I've played quite a lot lately. Perhaps a deeper problem. Not sure.

A break usually re-kindles the love. Just as in RL

Craig's idea is a good one also. It's actually a little tempting to start going on the 25-yo holiday game instead of this one whose only in 2011.

I'm on a burnout at present myself. I've tried three saves from Frank, and none have really gone. The first one lasted two and a half season, then I just never found myself coming back to play those long sessions. The other two were short saves. So, I'm doing what I always do. Taking a break until I crave FM. I often find that watching some matches on the tele, or actually reading some people's updates to help spark a bit of interest. Doesn't always rekindle the fire until after a short break, but there's usually a spark.
