Default Question about Sky+, specifically about watching it in other rooms

help me out my Sunday pals.

basically getting a new Tv tomorrow, and ideally since my house has Sky+ Id like that in my room too. I know I could buy a new Sky box and watch whatever I wanted independently of all the other TV's in the house, but we have a study/games room that has Sky+ and its own box, that nobody ever really uses except for me.

isnt there a way to make it so my TV in my room can view whatever the box downstairs is watching? is this something I do through sky? or just a gadget I buy?

You need a 'magic eye'

One unit basically sits inbetween the sky box and the tv and transmits the signal to another unit between your aerial input and your tv. You can also use the remote through he magic eye iirc. We use them at work sometimes but I havent personally used one.

Buy a Sky plus magic eye for around £20, and hook it up, takes all of two minutes. You can then watch that box on the second TV, controlling it from the comfort of your bedroom. Picture and sound quality is good, especially if you use good quality coaxial cable.

Reading that though it just does the remote commands and you'll need to run a co-ax from the RF2 output on the sky box to your room.

Should be noted that Sky recommend the Global version, due to "superior build quality and better product reliability to deliver the high standards Sky customers have come to expect." Not sure if that's true, although I have heard of folks complaining the cheaper ones lost picture and sound quality.
