Believe it was the Hungarians who changed their shirt numbers round to confuse the opposition. A player who would have been considered a half back wearing a forwards number etc...
Back in the day used to confuse the hell out of teams

What about the No.10, in the hole role. That's fairly modern isn't it ?
Arsene Wenger and the other new age managers who changed the way footballers lived their lives (eating, drinking etc).

Ferguson cut out all the drinking antics of McGrath et al. Don't know if he was a trendsetter though.
Wenger definietly bought a new way about lifestyle of a footballer though.

sending the GK up in the last minutes, first time I saw that was Pearce but may have been used previously just wasn't aware of it.
