I spent some time living in Japan and watching J-League football. The players were technically very good but it sometimes seemed a bit like 20 blokes in skins and shirts chasing the ball. Tactically all over the place.
Some Japanese players have made the grade in other European countries - Nakata Hideotoshi, Ono Shinji etc etc. Nakamura is doing well in Scotland. I think the main thing is that J-League footballers are paid well enough in Japan - the original post seems to suggest quality = pay, if it did...
I agree, it would be good to see more Asian players in the Premier league, some are good enough (JS Park?) South Korea and Japan did well enough in the 2002 World Cup (home advantage not withstanding) didn't they?
