Default Unrealistic transfers

I'm not really one to moan about transfers in the game that would seem unrealistic IRL, but.....

As Aberdeen, Scott Severin was looking for around £8k in wages to stay with me - we could only afford £6k - I offered that to him ( decent raise from the £3,300 he was on) plus a huge signing on fee, £1.4k appearance fee and goal bonus etc and he rejected. It was coming close to the end of the year and with him able to move to clubs for free soon I made the tough decesion to sell my captain and one of my best players - he was worth almost £3M and no way we could afford to lose that kind of money. There was interest from Wigan, Birmingham and Sunderland but nothing came of it.....I offered him to clubs a few times at a reduced price and toward the end of December, his value was still £800k and I was willing to let him go for £100k to get some kind cash for him....nobody came in for him. He didnt sign for anyone on a free, and when his contract expired I let him go as he still wasn't inrterested in renewing.

Hes now just signed for DUNDEE who have just been premoted from the first division....and on £1k a week which is a 3rd of what I was paying him.

I know many of you English based players won't know much about him or even rate him....but how does a Scotland international, and club Captain of the 3rd biggest club in Scotland (who I just finsihed 3rd with, SFA cup runner up and into the UEFA cup) leave me and sign for a team that will be battling relegation on a fraction of his wage?? If he had signed for a lower premiership club or a top level championship club it would have made more sense.

Very strange indeed and I agree, should never happen.

Did he want a new challenge or anything like that?

When he was released from your club, his expectations fell. While this is realistic - he suddenly realises that he isn't going to get any big move, so adapts his expectations - on FM it can be too large (and too sudden) a swing. In some cases as soon as a player is without a club his wage demands halve, etc.

Did anyone else except Dundee offer him a contract?

yea in my game Blackstock wanted 40K per week(you greedy bugger)and just a day before his contract expired, he renewed it at QPR for just 17K...
for the record, QPR lost in the playoff final 2-1.

Your right it is too much of a swing in FM08 from the time they are eligible for a Bosman and the time they are a free. When they are Bosman they will demand outrageous amounts of money, but if their contract expires they will sharply reduce their demands.
