Default Runcorn Promotion to league football

hi there, just wondering how the game decides which non-league teams get promoted to blue square north/south. I read somewhere that its random and i also read that its based on reputation. So when will Runcorn Linnets get promoted?

Have had a look at this myself. Their rep is'nt very high so unlikely to see them get promoted into the playable leagues. Not many, if any have seen FC United get up, so down Runcorn will either.

BTW - I used to watch the "mighty corn" a good few years back. In the days of Barry Whitbread as manager with assistant John Owens. Which is a good little "where is he now" search for FMers here to try. John Owens was also my maths teacher at school

For promotion is needed:
To play in a league just below the playable leagues. Failing that a club will never get promoted.

Out of all the possible promotable team, promotion furthermore is decided on a mix of randomness and reputation.

Just replace someone in the BSP with Runcorn if you "really" want to play as them.

Is a save I plan to do quite soon myself. Will be taking what data I can for players and coaches from...

Take a look at the list in the first post of Dafuge's Challenge in the challenges section of the forum for a list of all possible promotion teams.

I think they're too far down for that to work.

Thats quite an annoying feature of the game if you play for a long time actully, you just get the same clubs coming in and out of the league. Wouldn't be too hard to put in some sort of promotion/ relegation device in the unplayable leagues surely?

Incidently, I just started posting a story on Runcorn in the story forum and this thread and its website link have led to realise I've entirely mis-understood their history! But its good to be enlightened anyway.

Yup - they're your typical "chairman rakes all the money in over the years and takes a successful club out of business" story

If you look at statistics a few years ago, they were actually still ranked as the overall most successful Alliance Premier/Conference/Blue Square Premier, club of all time.

They've had some excellent players over the years. The most notable being Ian Woan, who was one of Brian Clough's last ever signings.

The club had a 30% sell on clause in the deal with Forest and I think the chairman always banked on him moving clubs. Never happened though and Ian Woan left Forest eventually on a free transfer. Runcorn got 30% on nothing.

They had their share of misfortune such as a wall collapsing when they played Hull City in the cup, plus later their main stand burnt down. I still maintain this was an insurance job by the former chairman though...

After a disastrous move to Widnes, changing their name to Runcorn FC Halton, sharing the rugby league ground haemhorraged money further. Eventually they went pop.

Fortunately though, the fans started the club afresh and things are looking up. Not perhaps to the scale of AFC Wimbledon or AFC Telford, but they never had the fan base.
