On FM07 & FM08 sometimes the board will limit the overall number of staff you have. With an Assistant Manager, genreally they only allow you to have one.

One trick I learned quite quickly for both FM07 & FM08 is this...

You want more coaches, but the board cancel your attempts to increase the staff?

Look for coaches who are still players. Do this quickly by doing a search, without criteria, then click the "role" tag at the top of this column. You will see then that you've got a big list of guys who are still players, but have coaching attributes available.

Search through these to find what you want, then importantly to note, just offer them a contract as a player. Once they join your club, then offer them a player/coach job.

The trick here is that the board oes not recognise them as a coach and does not block your moves. You can actually do this as many times as you like :thup:
