...and I never had to offer a bribe.
I wasn't sure whether to turn this save into an update but all seems to be going well with the playability of FM08 so here goes.
After some pasta & wine I fancied a trip to Italy, Frank was more than happy to help sending me to Sassari Torres. A quick look at their website & I'm pleased to see they have a concrete bowl of a ground with a horrid dusty pitch. 2007/08: Serie C2A
After lots of tactical tinkering & raiding the Alps for some new cheap talent I'm surprised to see us climb the league, the title is a non starter but a 4th place finish gives me a shot at the play-offs, victory follows & it's my 1st ever opening season promotion. 2008/09: Serie C1B
After the surprise of promotion our squad looks poor, eleven players are out & seven come in but I'm still not confident & suggest to the board it's going to be a struggle. Once again I'm astonished that the lads high morale carries them forward to yet another 4th place finish followed by success in the play-offs. Serie C Cup: Never got out of the group stage in either season. 2009/10: Serie B
We were unsurprisingly predicted to struggle so I rang the changes again with 18 new players for the grand total of £0, another 11 are looking for new clubs. We lose our first match in the Italian cup & then record 2 defeats & a win in our opening 3 league games. The early stages of the season are tough but we gather pace in the last few months & secure a fine 13th place. 2010/11: Serie B
More of the same this year 9 players in & 14 out mediocre league form never overly concerned by relegation finishing in 15th place, we also get to the 3rd qualifying round of the Italian cup. 2011/12: Serie B
With two seasons behind us I'm starting to get cocky & offer the board a top 10 finish when all they asked for was survival. To help me out 12 new players are recruited & 17 get bus tickets out of town.
The fixture computer is kind giving us 3 homes games in the opening 4 & we grab the chance by winning them all. Our home form is excellent all season & clubs are starting to sit back when they visit, we just can't get any consistency on our travels. Serie B as a whole turns out to be quite weak this season & we spend all but 4 weeks in the top ten. Nice to give the board what I promised as we finish 10th & get the overachievers of the year award.
