i'm playing as york city and in my second season, having got promoted to league 2 i'm preparing for the season ahead.

i got man u as my parent club and was wondering on what date would they decide which players they wanted to send on loan to my team as part of the deal or is it just best to go ask them for the players i would like?

Just go ask them for players. It is then up to the player as to whether or not they will join you.

Similar with my Woking game, but I got Chelsea as a parent club. When it was first set up they sent me two players straight off, I asked for a few more and they accepted the offers for pretty much everyone I asked for so long as there was no chance of them appearing in the Chelsea first team. The better players often won't want to come [Sinclair, Sahar etc], but to be honest like Chelsea, many of Man U's youth team/reserves could change the course of a season for you in League 2. Sam Hutchinson, their kickass right back, had such a great time during his 3 months with us last year that we're now his favourite club and it was no problem getting him back on a season-long this year. I'd advise you to choose carefully which players you try and get on a season-long, in fact I'd probably try and sort out before any other loans. If you don't fill these up they'll send you extra players now and then, but you get final say on whether they actually come or not.
