Default What's the worst collapse of a sucessful club you've seen happen after you've left said club?

Mine's not the total disaster you'd expect, but at least an original way of going about it.

I left Brentford in the summer of 2056.

At the time, instead of bringing a list of potential replacements for me, I got a message saying the media refused to speculate on my replacement.

And, true enough, three years later, they have still not appointed a new manager.

More crucially, as well as not offering a contract to any potential managers, no other contracts have been offered to anyone else.

There have been no new signings, and players contracts have been allowed to expire.

This is the full first team squad that will contest the 2059/60 premier league (don't worry, the injuries aren't long term)

The reserves are empty too, so the only other players at the club are the under 18's (who all leave after a year when their contracts don't get renewed)

The backroom staff doesn't seem to be faring much better, currenty consisting of two coaches and one scout).

Despite the ever dwindling player pool (last seasons fist team squad featured 12, including 3 goalies, 1 full bck and 0 wingers)

Despite this, what appears on the surface to be lunacy, the club are actually doing quite well.

They've been consistantly in the later stages of the chamions league, and challenging for the title.

So despite this it hasn't been a disaster for them, and I'm sure you guys can beat this.

What's the biggest mess your successor has made of one of your teams?

I see you are playing FM05 - this is actually a bug.

From what I remember they don't replace the manager until the team gets relegated... Can't remember if it was ever patched.

Medic! Get this guy a patch! This kinda proves my theory that tiredness of players doesn't seem to effect the AI teams if they can do an entire season with 12 players.

Of course not - they'd get grey players if they needed 'em. Plus, if the league isn't on "extra detail", and he's left to manage in a different league, the Premier League results are being generated on reputation, not players, anyways.

nick..., the "failure to replace manager" bug was a well-documented at the time FM'05 bug, I think its been fixed from '06 onwards.

Answering your question, "all the way from Championship to Conference".

It made me very sad.

I resigned from Man Utd after 7 seasons of winning the PL in a row. Then Ryan Giggs came in (still with world class players) and messes everything up and buys no-one for 2 seasons and with an ageing squad.

In his first season, United came 6th and then came 11th. To stop this, I made a new manager of Man Utd and then retired so now Paul Jewell is in charge and they are 1st.

Know its not that big, but its the only time I have resigned and not started a new game
