OGS is infamous around these parts
Default Is this a bug?

Start of Jan transfer window and I see a player I want to sign on a free. Contract is negotiated.

A day later, player succumbs to injury, and is injured for 5 months.

Player accepts contract, agrees to come. Transfer is slated to take place in June the same year, i.e. 6 months later.

Next news item - Board has cancelled the transfer because the player failed his medical.

Surely, the Board is better than this?!

Sounds like real life to me!

Who's to say that after 5 months he will be able to play again? He may never make a full recovery.

Man Utd did something similar when they were signing Rude.

This certainly isn't a bug and I'm not even sure it could be considered bad business practice. Contracts are way more complicated than represented in FM (you wouldn't want it any other way) and they have to consider insurance and ultimately the players ability to do his job beyond limitation. I used to know this stuff, but it's changed a bit since I last looked at it, however I think those times when a player agrees a move whilst being injured are only Promissory Employment Contracts and can be rescinded or voided. I'm sure someone else can clarify.

Your case could be construed as the board simply refusing to legally tie itself with a player that must have a fairly serious injury that could worsen and they wouldn't be to get on their treatment table for 6 months anyway. That doesn't even take the legalities surrounding medicals into account. Makes sense to me.

In that case, it makes some sense.

Just that it is a pity as the player is a very good talent which I would have gotten for nothing and who might have recovered by Aug in the new season to play for me.

oh well, tough luck.
