Default Manager Contracts

I was recently offered a new contract and I was thinking that this part of the game seems like a bit of a waste of time. While it's great that my board offered a new contract before my contract was up, it really seems a bit meaningless. Also when they offer me a salary, I was thinking that it really doesn't matter how much I make, so I just accept whatever the offer is. I was wondering however, if my salary will have an adverse affect on my club's finances, since our bank balance isn't the best.

i kind of agree with you, however if you get a long term contract with a higher wage the board will be less willing to sack you

Of course it means a lot. You earn a wage that any other manager would, so this money has to come out of the club. There are also compensation issues, if the club were to sack you or if you were to move to a different club while under contract. The terms of your contract can influence the relevant board's decision in these cases.

Has anybody ever been offererd more than a two year deal? I always get two year deals, no matter how well i'm doing, i actually negotiated on my current game and got them upto three years!

I'm only a new manager, so have only been offered two year deals, so that seems about right. But Harry Redknapp has recently been offered a four year deal, so it should be an option to be offered more if you're deemed a success by the board (of course, that will mean the confidence aspect of the game needs to be amended).

I was managing Boston United, I think my reputation was set very high. I got offered a four year contract from Birmingham.

I'm in my fourth year now so I hope to get another four year contract so I can finish the job I started!
