Default Consolation Goals

I've had a lot of matches where I'm 3-0 or 2-0 up and then the opposition scores a consolation goal in the dying seconds.

Whats the proble with that you may ask?

Firtsly it hurts a defender and goalkeeper's ratings, affecting their value long term.

Though consolation goals do occur in real life, they occur too often in the games I manage, in about 3 quarters of games I seem to concede a consolation goal with the opposition's first shot.

Is it just me or does this happen to others aswell?

What gives you the impression that the value of a player is based on match ratings?

It does, I've seen and heard others say that.

Do you get any consolation goals against you or is it just me?

Well my GK has just kept his 100th clean sheet in 6 and a half years (256 games), so I can't say it's just you but it's not something that I have noticed.

Maybe it's what you do tactically when the AI chases the game with one of it's attacking formations such as 424.

You're probably right, I keep my normal, attacking, tactic for the whole match if I'm playing a poor team, means more goals for my strikers.

There's another thread near the top(ish) of this page where someone else is moaning about conceding late goals, (he mentions when he goes to 5 at the back).

Have a think about it.

If someone has gone 424 against you, you obviously have to defend, but putting an extra man behind the ball just helps them have more posession and invites wave after wave of attacks.

My top scorer at the moment is a bloke that I have nick-named Super-Sub. He hasn't started a single game all season.

I love late goals .
