Is the game supposed to work without the disk in?

Well I've just started up the game, forgetting to put the disk in and it worked.

how? my brother is always using the disk and i never get a chance to play...

The game is meant to work WITH the disk, working without it means you might have some program installed that bypasses copy protection.

I'd suggest disabling the software and using the disk as intended, as it's rumoured that the game will not function properly if you don't use the disk.
