From Welling to England in... erm TWO SEASONS?!

Had a bit of a weird one last night on my FM07.

Been playing as Welling in the Conference South - first season we overachieved, creeping into the playoffs and losing in the final.

Then last season we scraped out of relegation to finish 17th.

I have just spent the summer re-enforcing the squad etc.

After playing my first friendly - a nice 3-2 win ;o) - I have just been offered the England job?!

I started as an unknown so it's not that I am known or anything.

Surely this must be a mistake? I haven't accepted yet - I feel a bit like Mike Bassett to be honest :o/

Anyone else been offered a job this huge so early in their career and from such a low league?

I assume you started with the highest reputation possible. So it's not so unrealistic. Depending on whether you think Jose Mourinho managing Welling is unrealistic or not.

Yeah I got promoted in my second season with Darlington and got offered the England job over the weekend I think this is a known bug for FM07 it wont be fixed in the future.

Happened to me when I used the automatic reputation.

Me too, several times. Not happened in 08, though... yet.

Same here on the reputation front - I was on the lowest setting.

Now just have to decide whether to forfeit reality and take the job *rubs chin*

I took it the resigned after a game, wanted to concetrate on Darlington. I think it did happen in FM08 but before it was patched, either that or it was the random being named England manager.

Nah it still happens in 8.0.1 - its a bug with using the ex international footballer reputation. I got into League 1 with Blyth and was promptly offered first the Arsenal job and then the England job.

Arsene Wenger always gets sacked 3 seasons in for me in FM08 - totally stupid.

Surely that's not a bug. You're an ex-international footballer. Totally reasonable to be offered a top job. Alan Shearer lately. Linked with Newcastle loads?
