Default Work Permit Confusion!?

I've bought a quality player recently and i must have missed the fact he doesn't have a valid work permit. What are my options now? How can i get the guy a permit? I don't mind loaning him out to a club in the EU for however long, but will this work? Or am i just stuck with him??!

When you purchased him, it will have told you he didn't gain a work permit, but that you are able to send him to your "work permit" feeder club. He'll have to stay there for anything between 2-3 years I suspect.

Could be up to 4 years though depending on what work permit feeder club you have.

or if he's really that quality send him to a club in spain or italy where he'll be playing against quality opposition.
this will raise his reputation enough so that he will get a WP in quick time.

presuming that he actually plays regularly for the team.

And be careful which club you choose. One feeder club might cost you more, but you get your permit quicker. I was Leeds and naturally picked a cheaper Romanian club over an expensive Belgian one. Time to residency for Matias Cahais? 1400 days.

Great. Just hope he gets a few internationals under his belt so I can offer a new contract... which is the other way to get the permit sorted. If over the course of a season (or year - I forget) they feature in 75% of internationals for which they are available they should qualify when you offer a new contract. Pricy, though.

I signed Maxwell as a replacement for Patrice Evra at Man Utd. It was a last minute deal on 31st Aug so I wasn't given the option to appeal his work permit being turned down. I then loaned him to Antwerp and realised he would have to play there for up to 3 yrs!! I needed him straight away. I then searched the forums and found out if you offer him a new contract with role set to key player he may get his work permit - did this and resolved his work permit issues. However, there was no news item announcing that his permit had come through but have since recalled him and played him in the premier league - still p'ed off though - he missed european registration

For south american players Spanish 1st division clubs are a good choice for work permits as the player gain them after 2 years because of the rules they have concerning south americans otherwise its 4 years to gain a permit.

If you have a feeder club for non EU players you will sign them anyway usually without much warning.

Then they will have WP and be unplayable.
