Default Shots on Goal (A seasons stats)

Bit of a long post but I hope quite interesting !!

OK I thought I'd be a bit sad and count the Shot on Goal stats for my team for an entire season.

Now when I play FM I try to keep possession of the ball and create as many chances as possible (not exactly rocket science) and of course this means adapting tactics as necessary from time to time.

So this is not a seasons worth of stats based upon one particular tactic but moreover a seasons worth of stats based on the way I play FM.

The only constant in all the tactics I employ are the positionings of players at set pieces and I always play a flat back 4 with long passing and ultra defensive mentality.

I like so many others get extremely frustrated by the Shots on Goal issue which for me brings about far too many unrealistic results and takes a certain amount of enjoyment away from the game so instead of just whinging about it I thought I'd get some figures together.

Now having started a game unemployed and with a reputation set as Sunday League player I was soon offered the post at Farsley Celtic which I took.

Season 1 I Won the BSP
Season 2 I Won League 2

In both seasons I had far too many results go against me and even though I won the league on each occasion I didn't really enjoy them at all and was quite frustrated that I didn't win by a bigger margin because my tactics and team we're quite cleary head and shoulders above the rest.

Anyway I thought for my 1st season in League 1 (which would obviously be a struggle) that I would jot down all the shots on goal stats just to see what my team had to do on average per game to finish in whatever position they did !!!Make sense ?!?!?

Anyway I happened to absolutely desimate the opposition and go on to having my best ever season on FM 2008 - I won the league by 24pts and only had a handful of dodgy results (which still annoyed me)

Even so I think the stats are quite remarkable and here they are -

Totals

Shots For - 835
Shots Against - 466
Shots on Target For - 448
Shots on Target Against - 202
Goals For - 108
Goals Against - 46

Average Per Game

Shots For - 18.15
Shots Against - 10.13
Shots on Target For - 9.74
Shots on Target Against - 4.39
Goals For - 2.35
Goals Against - 1
Possession For - 54.24
Possession Against - 45.76

I think the stats prove that creating chances and keeping possession are the keys to success (duuuuurrrrr) but also I think it just goes to show just how much better you have to be than the other teams to be successful.

I'm a tad annoyed that I had such a good season now because I wanted the stats to help people with teams that were struggling as I expected I would but seeing as I went through all the effort to take all the stats there was no way I wasn't gonna do this post LOL.

Anyway I hope that at least one person finds it interesting :-)

Default

So if you keep more possession, you will create more chances, resulting in you scroing more goals, resulting in a successful season?

I'm following this right, right???

Not sure of the point of the thread to be honest, did I miss something?
