Default FM 07 + patch + data update or FM 08?

Hi I'm looking for some opinions on which FM to buy. I've not bought FM before but used to play Champ Man 4-5 years ago. I had a go of FM08 for a few hours at my friends house and want to play again!

So should I..
buy 07 as any features added in the last 4 odd years since I last played would be interesting to me plus with a patch and data update I could have a complete game with fewer bugs.
Or should I..
buy FM08 this weekend and wait a month or so for the next patch so I can have the most up to date game and features?

Cheers guys.

Really cant answer that until I have played FM08 with the patch, although I really am enjoying FM07 patched and updated at the moment. You can get older version really cheap so why not buy FM06 or FM07 and then wait and see what the response will be post patch for FM08

Personally I'd go with FM08. For me it's better than '07 and is perfectly playable. There's no need to buy it and wait for the next patch. Just buy it and get used to it, then maybe start a long term game when the latest patch comes out.

Plus any info and advice you get on the forums will be up to date if you're playing 08.

Just putting my vote in for buying 2007 and using the 7.0.2 version - just seems much more realistic to me in terms of goals-to-shots ratio and board expectations. You could also probably get it cheaper than 2008. Just my two cents ...

I would go for FM08, since the first patch came out 8.01 my game has been fine, most bug's in my game are now fixed. 08 just feels better to me than 07. I think there has been a lot of bad reports on 08 but it has been patched and will continue to do so. Up to me 08 every day, well thats how often i play it. Sad I know.

you might as well get straight on fm 08 to be honest, its not half as bad as some people are making out, i'm really enjoying it, and i have a much more successful career than i ever managed on fm 07! i wont try and convince you its a perfect game, because it isnt, but imho its still better than 07!

i'm playing both at the moment, reinstalled 07 last night, and the old "CB makes crucial error which leads to goals" certainly took me back

other than that, a fully patched game will be worth the wait, as FM07 patched with 7.0.2 shows. you may or may not experience anything anyone has posted on these boards with fm08, i haven't, personally.
