Rep Power: 0 | Deleting .pkms
Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help with som advice about .pkm files?
First off, I realise this is a re-post, but after using the search function I noticed that all of the threads are from before 2007, and when I tried to follow the advice in them I couldnt get the files to show up?
Anyway - I was wondering if anyone could explain how to delete these files to help speed the game up and keep the file size down?
Cheers for any help!

i'm sure they are pretty small anyway, but they are located in
"My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008/Matches".
put they in the recycle bin.

Followed that route but there were none in the "Matches" folder? Is that the only place they could be found???

Klim, they are pretty small, but when you are 15 season's in, theres literally thousands of them to delete, which can really speed up the save, load and processing time of your game. To the OP, i wouldn't expect miracles though mate, the speed difference isn't MASSIVE, barely noticable when you are far enough in for it to matter anyway, and can cause corrupt data files that ruin your save game.

| i've only scored 5 in a game 4 times in 4 years, not much for me to save
anyway, aaronbwfc, do a search from the start menu for .pkm files to see where they are located. shoulda been in My Documents.

Just did a search through the start menu - again, none to be found?
Am I searching for the right files? The ones that hold previous match data in? Previous threads that I read were basicly saying that you can delete them and speed things up, but that you can't go back and look at previous matches that you've played.

thats weird. did you type ".pkm"? i just did it and found (all 7 of) mine.
check if there is an option in the "preferences" menu (in game) of the save type/location for the files.

Nope - just did another search, still nothing.
Couldn't see anything that seemed useful in Preferences, but there is a tick-box asking whether to use the "use data" folder for temorary files - could that be what I should be looking for?

if it's unticked, maybe it's been saved along with the game save. i'm guessing...
there was something along the lines of "gamesave cleaner" for fm07, not sure for this version, never used it myself. but i spose it could solve the issue if it is available. check the editors hideaway.
but don't take my word for it, there may be implications as it could spoil your save...
