Default What a fickle chairman!

NOT A WINDGE - JUST WONDERING IF THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ANYBODY ELSE!

I started my career with Sheffield United and Won the League.

Now promoted i stated we could avoid relegation and was given £7million to spend. Spend it all and due to my excelent managerial capabilities (and a hell of a lot of luck) we managed to finish 9th.

Time for a new contract. I was offered a two year deal with the long term expectation of avoiding relegaion within 2 years.
A good contract - especialy with the 2nd season syndrome (as seen irl with wigan)

When it comes to selecting my squad expectations the minimum i can say is Mid-Table. With the pittance of a transfer fund i knew this was impossible.

7 Games to go and were 4 points clear of the drob zone but its not good enough. And despite being set to match the clubs long term ambitions i was clearing my desk after a 2-2 draw with 4th placed villa.

Harsh and i do feel bitter but i want to know if anything like this has happened to anyone else?

Happens quite frequently. I think the board confidence feature has really made chairmen quick to frie managers

Something i hope they fix in 8.0.2 or at least with the patch.

I woudln't say thats a problem, chairman are always going to expect the club to go forward and if you look at these clubs that suffer from "2nd season syndrome" most of them don't keep their managers

Football's a fickle game these days, look how many managers have been sacked irl this season already to see that

Amen. One of the biggest problems with FM in recent times is the price of over-achieving. The confidence feature hasn't helped with this in it's bug riddled state anyway.

SI, please please please factor in life at club confidence level. Overachieving in previous years, especially winning trophies when not expected to, should mean a slower decline in confidence when things turn temporarily pear-shaped.

Unless of course you manage Chelsea or Newcastle...

You are right on the point on over-achieving. This has to be fixed come next version.

I'm not defending SI here but look at Derby IRL. They were not even expected to be in the premier league yet Billy Davies has left the club. Look at West Ham. They reached an FA cup final and a comfortable mid table position in their first season back in the premier league. Yet a little struggle later, and Curbs was fired (though I admit a new chairman could have played a part too). I think once a club overachieves, the chairman and fans do hope and expect a similar level of performance in the future.
