Default Newbie help!

Hi, new to the FM7 game & have some pretty basic questions to ask! Sorry if this is the wrong place! I played FM2005 & am struggling to keep up to speed with the 2007 version! This game is brilliant but theres so much more! My questions are: -

1. My transfer budget! I was gived £3.5m to spend but have sold some players. I'm in the market again & now when I make an offer, my budget shows as £3.5 (season) £22m (remaining). I take it I will have £22m to play with or do I have to ask the boad for extra fuds so that I can dig into the £22m?

2. Transfers in general! i've made umpteen attempts to sign players & have offered the asking price & then some! No joy. I'm managing Rangers, so perhaps Iaquinta, Gattuso & Van Bronkhorst just dont fancy the SPL! There's just straight refusal to sell...no option to negotiate, even for some sensible targets!

3. Eastern Europe/South America! What's the deal here! I can only find 2 or 3 players from most teams....if any that I can approach! Are these the players who would qualify for a work permit?

4. Squad training routine! In the 2005 game, you could decide what your squad did on certain days. Has this been changed so that you could only give them 'General' Training, Rest or goalkeeping?

Again...sorry if this is all basic stuff!

1) - Yes, the season budget is what you started with, the remaining budget is what you have left to spend.

2) - The transfer system in FM07/08 needs heavy work, and unless the player is unhappy or transfer listed, you will pay wayyyyyy over the top to get players. (Buying transfer listed players works well, as you can ge t them at a very knocked down price)

3) - I think that depends on your scouts knowledge, and the clubs knowledge as a whole. Also, it will have an effect on the size of the database you are running, and what leagues you have loaded

4) - Your best bet is to try the training forum

Good luck.

Unfortunately the scottish league both in game and irl is not very highly thought of so attracting really good player will probably be very difficult.

Do you have all players from these leagues loaded? If not then that probably why the teams dont have many players. You cant change this now that you've started your game so you'll have to restart if you want the players from these nations. Before you try and sign any of these players though I would strongly suggest you get a work permit feeder in a nation like Belgium,Poland or Spain(first division only).

Excellent! Thanks guys! Yep, I think I'll restart. I'm only 2 months into the game so there's no great loss of time etc. I did the age old cheat of having 2 users & having the ricer one buying all my players, so spent most of the close season pressing the continue button waiting for deals to go through!

Thansk again chaps!!!
