magacid, I'm wondering if you've had any of the following situations with the player:

- player injured, missed several games while listed with an "orange" injury.

- player fatigued, missed a "big game" such as a Cup Final or Semi-Final, a European match, or a derby rivalry such as Arsenal, Chelsea, etc.

- player frequently starts but plays just 45-70 minutes instead of lasting all 90.

- player has had a run of great form, e.g., 7.60 - 8.00 average rating, but hasn't been given any individual praise in either team talks or media.

- player thinks he should have been named captain but wasn't.

.... not saying that I've seen any correlation with any of those, I'm just trying to drill for information at the moment.
I've seen many sulks based on this list - it's bloody irritating lol.

Its the "I didn't play him because he had an orange injury" counting as "Not playing him" for happiness purposes that always bugged me the most.

magacid, at this point I'd probably look at the praise bit. Combined with your observation that he had a concern about "How you spoke to players on match day", you might try giving him specific Team Talks, instead of just giving him the generic one you're giving the rest of the team. I'd recommend things like "go from strength to strength", "you can make the difference here", specific-player-"Pleased" or "Delighted" team talks, etc.

I would keep a close eye on him - the other problem is that you've bought a high-Controversy prima donna who expects you to cater to his every whim and is going to blow up when things don't go so well.

If team talks still feel like a minefield to you, you might want to try reading Communication and Psychological Warfare over in the Tactics & Training Tips forum - unless you've got that LLaMa-esque "I don't want any help, dagnabbit!" ethos.

Sorry - I misspoke here.

I meant to say "The other possibility is ... "

rather than imply that it was 100% certain that you'd have problems with the player. If you and he can build a good relationship, you may never have trouble with him again.
