Default Trouble Changing Jobs

Can anybody tell me if it is possible to change to another job after the first one? ie. After starting unemployed, then taking a League 2 team to the Championship, bigger clubs relegated to League 1 appoint a manager with a lower reputation than mine when I apply for their vacancy. Am playing FM 2008 and found FM 2007 the same.

maybe if you resign from your current club then it might be easier to get a job. I expect the people that got the jobs were unemployed prviously?

You'll have to improve you reputation first.
I've had several different clubs in my game.
Workington was my first, on the lowest reputation.
Tottenham was my last on "continental" reputation.
Took me 11 years to get that far.
Doesn't happen overnight!
I hope you're not applying for many many jobs, as this doesn't help.

It may be because the club you are trying to join can't afford to pay your current club the compensation to buy out your remaining contract?

Thanks for the replies. After getting promoted with bradford in 2nd place (reputation thus changing from Regional to National), I then saved the game under two different file names, resigning from the job in one of them. 6 weeks later i applied for the Sheff Wed job in League 1 and they gave it to a manager with a 'Regional' reputation. I think this makes the game become very boring if you can't change like that..

It's realistic, though. Don't expect to neccesarily get the job; there are many more unemployed managers out there and thus you have competition similar to what you'd have in real life. Sometimes you just aren't the right [wo]man for the job.

Maybe the new hire was a previous "favored personnel"? Maybe they knew someone on the board?

Maybe, they play politics better with the star player who was brought in as the owner's personal favorite and that player is currently discontented with the former manager because they can't break into the lineup consistently? (aka Avram Grant and Chelsea)

I've had moderate success with Rochdale in league 2 and two championship sides want me. I did start as an ex pro though, my rep is national.
