Been reading a few historic threads to see if I could get an answer to this query...

If a player is purchased at an early age so that they may have homegrown status after three years at the club (correct me if I wrong on that basic statement), does loaning the player out to foreign club then stop this from happening or does it depend by which club the player is actually owned by?

IIRC the definition is trained at club so it goes off where he was training not who owns him.

Makes sense in that context.

I wonder if I was to sign a young player on loan for a season, and then puchase them in the summer. Would the year on loan then count a year trained for my club?

Not sure about that one TBH. I suppose in theory it should count that year as aa year at the club but I'm not sure if it actually does.

I know what you mean, the theory does not alway happen in practice.
