I'm playing football manager 2008, an MLS team, and without warning several of my players were "released on a free transfer" Their contracts weren't up and they were 2 of them were players I just signed the day before. I'm not sad to see the other ones go but was shopping them around for a transfer. What can I do to stop this from happening, it's happened in every game I've tried to start.

There are many roster limitations in MLS, as well as a salary cap. For example there is a 28 man roster maximum and an 18 player senior roster. If you have more players, the ones without a squad number will automatically be released.
