Hi,
Does anyone think there are different morale calculations for cup games
because they're 'one-offs'?
I'm Portsmouth, hovering around 4th 5th in the league all season.
But when it comes to cup games I seem to struggle - have played Wigan and Derby,
and both teams have morale of some good but mostly poor/very poor. My morale is mostly good and upwards. Both opposition had a run in the last 5 games of 1 win, 2 draws 2 losses and were 15th or lower in the
prem. One was at home one away.
Experimented with replaying the games to see what would happen - tried all team talks, different team selections, passing styles etc. I simply could not score, was out tackled/headed, form players could not get shots on target etc, even lost a 2 goal lead in the last 5 minutes once after finally scoring. The performances just do not seem to reflect a)the teams positions or b) their morale and form.
Overall took me 7 attempts to beat Wigan at home, am on my 6th attempt against Derby and clueless as to how to beat them.
I can take losing a game occasionally to a worse team - it happens. These are experiments trying to fathom what happens with team talks etc and this repeated experience seems to suggest morale is handled differently in the cups.
Cheers
