Good stuff, morgantjg.

Your 'PR scale' idea is pretty much spot-on; in fact, what I really want is to see the amount of media pressure increase, from the Conference to League 1 to the Premiership to European play and finally, the most intensive, managing a national team.

As for the agents thing, frankly, that older implementation was more annoying than anything - the agents rarely offered you any players worth your time to look at, and further didn't

Personally, since there isn't a transfer list in real life, I try to think of the in-game "transfer list" as "Players for whom the team has notified his agent to find a new team," and think of "consulting the transfer list" as "calling around to a bunch of agents to ask whose on the market". (A player who demands to be transfer-listed, then, is a player who has demanded that his agent have permission to talk to other teams.)

Letting me go "pull" information in that way is a lot more efficient than the "push" style that those older agent videos adopted.

Even there, though, SI could build that assumption into the media with explicit e-mails in response: "The agent for Sam Smythe announced today that Puddlemere United have asked him to find a new club for the player..."

I imagine that Italian clubs and Barcelona and Real Madrid are quite high prolfile! This would be an exceptional inclusion into the game!

Maybe people would think this would be too much sifting through news items, however I'm pretty sure Eriksson, Capello etc aren't exactly enthralled with having too ask questions more than they should.

Isn't there? I have heard several times that there is actually an accessible list for managers and scouts that could be logged onto.

My impression is that the media love to refer to "the transfer list", but that there ain't no such animal.

I'm willing (happy even!) to be proved wrong - if anybody has supporting evidence to link to!

Exactly - that's why I figured "European play" was a level beyond mere "Premiership manager".

You might even make the distinction between clubs which "expect" Champions League qualification, clubs which merely "expect" European qualification, and the rest of the top-flight clubs.

Thinking about this a bit more, I was wondering - perhaps controversially! - about the "No Comment" answer.

My thinking is that "No comment" would be a sufficient dodge at the Conference level, maybe even the League One level ..

.. but by the time you're managing Barcelona when you get media speculation like "After Smithaldinho's poor performance the last two weeks, speculation is you're scouting Juventus star Jonesaldo as a potential replacement. With the transfer window closing in a mere week, can you tell us your plans?" ...

... IRL, a "No Comment" answer to that question gets spin. For example, I might "No Comment" it, only to read the next morning:

"Speculation is heating up after Amaroq yesterday refused to deny speculation that Barcelona is in talks with Juventus about Jonesaldo. Surely, if there were no truth to the rumours, the manager would simply have said he had no interest...."

.. with, of course, the potential for reactions from Smithaldinho, Jonesaldo, Juventus, and even some of my other opinionated players.

Of course, moving in that direction is going to frustrate the chunk of players who have learned to "No Comment" everything...
