Default revolutionary idea.

Not really. people probably posted about this one:
numbered sliders. been wanting that since fm 05 and i figured someone would say something and eventually it would be added...i'm not a coder or anything, but i can't imagine that it would be that hard to see the numbers when you click on a slider...eh? instead having to count number of clicks and what not... unless that can be turned on somewhere...in which case i'm an idiot

Hardly revolutionary but I like the idea as it would just make tactics a bit easier to glance over. Something that clearly shows where the slide is would be appreciated, maybe just clearly defined lines along the slider?

The easiest thing to do would be to cut down on all the clicks it now has, to make it more realistic.

Does a real-life manager ask his team to play a 5-click Attacking Style, with 4-click Normal Tempo, 6-click Short Passing, etc?

Please, SI, make it like this -

MENTALITY

Ultra-defensive
Defensive
Defensive/Normal
Normal
Normal/Attacking
Attacking
Ultra-attacking

TEMPO

Ultra-slow
Slow
Slow/Normal
Normal
Nomal/Quick
Quick
Ultra-quick

PASSING

Ultra-short
Short
Short/Mixed
Mixed
Mixed/Direct
Direct
Long

CLOSING DOWN AREAS

(Here I actually agree with more clicks available, as a manager could tell each player he wants them closing down approximately 5, or 6, or 7, etc..... yards into his own half or the opponent's half, but if you're going to have closing down based on areas of the pitch as it is now, it also needs another CLOSING DOWN slider for how often players should close down, in the area you have set them to. And that should also have less clicks available -)

CLOSING DOWN RATE

Never
Rarely
Normal
Often
All the time

CREATIVE FREEDOM

None
Very little
Little
Normal
Much
Very Much
Free Role

WIDTH

Very narrow
Narrow
Normal
Wide
Very wide

TIME WASTING

Never
Rarely
Mixed
Often
Always

DEFENSIVE LINE

This one could keep all the clicks available too, as it mirrors reality also.

TACKLING

Only has 3 options right now. They're okay I guess, although a couple more clicks/options could be added -

Very easy
Easy
Easy/Normal
Normal
Normal/Hard
Hard
Crunching

I appreciate that it's a game and that it can't be totally realistic in every respect, but where the opportunity is available to make it more realistic, it should be taken imo. And that's why a lot of the clicks should be cut down on.

nah thats too much IMO, i like it simple, but giving it lines to see where it is on the slider is a good idea

I prefer clicks and sliders. Didnt they used to be numbered when you could see on the left pane of tactics screen what number each player was on. Closing down and mentality for example.

Back in the real world didnt Cappello last night
do a number of hand movements to his midfield then back four indicating in steps where he wanted there postions to be? Could be seen as sliders.

I actually preffered the sliders over that I do remember that, most of the time I was scratching my head as I was clueless to what ever I did with those training sessions.

I admit though it would be nice have a line going through the sliders to mark what number it is set to. IMO

Having a slider bar for selecting the amount you wish to bid/sell a player for would save my wrist big time. Especially when you made some really complex payment method but the system log for when the next 5 teams make offers and you have to start all over again.

Using the current preset default, then clicking on the +/- to adjust can be really exhausting and quite frankly i know i'm not the only one experiencing RSI from this game.

Slide bar sounds good.
