i've never seen it happen, or seen anyone give a screenshot of it happening, plus i'm not sure what criteria the game would use to select a new rival (geegraphy, title rivals, manager comments, etc)

i have seen plenty of people complain that they've taken lower league sides up to the top flight yet still been stuck with the same lower league rivals they started the game with

not saying that it isn't possible, but i've never seen proof, and if it does happen it must be pretty rare

I'd love to hear an answer from SI on this one. I've seen it come up so many times for both FM and EHM, and I've yet to see a concrete answer come up.

Personally, I'd be really excited to hear that they can change. I've always loved sports rivalries. :thup:

FYI: A month or two ago at ehmtheblueline.com, we seem to have proven that rivalries change in EHM. Many of us posted the starting rivalries for someone's inquiry about them. Then someone else came by and posted the rivalries they saw while using the save-game editor on their current in-progress game. Those were slightly modified in that some teams had new rivals over the original starting database.

Now, I know that's not FM, but it's at least a good sign.

I think it does change. I'm pretty sure I saw an english club with Barca as thei rival in 2018

Chelsea have Barcelona as fierce rivals from the start, so maybe that's what you saw.
