Rule of Two or Not To Rule Of Two....
..that is the question.
Personally, I find the RoT system to be riddled with flaws - no matter how much I tweak, how long I give the team to settle into the formation and no matter what level of team I'm playig with. It often produces unattractive football, results can swing from the downright incredible to the horribly embarassing and possession stats are rarely consistent.
There are some cracking tips and cool insights in wwfan's Tactical Theorems posts, that's for sure, but as for the basis of the RoT tactic I'm afraid I just can't see the appeal beyond the logic on paper.
The tactics that work for me are often based less on highly logical and often near-mathematical factoring, but those that are more based on common sense from having watched a million football matches over the past 25 odd years, knowing the players within the game world and tailoring to suit opposition tactics and players on a case by case basis. With the onus always on trying to create the most attractive football with the players at hand.
Disuss. (I've been generally vague on purpose)
