Woah. I was a neutral supporter in this game, the only thing I don't like is the fans. Not the players...

You can't single out one player in the opposite team for your loss, which is exactly what you done. Rooney got sent off for stamping on someone

Who's fault? Rooneys

Maybe he got the red for the push as well?

Ronaldo didn't push himself and say it was rooney now did he? He didn't even acknowledge the push.

okay let me get this straight.

An English man makes a thread fantasizing over a young talaneted footballer getting his leg broke, and that's grand yeah.

When an Irish man sticks up for this player, and says "It's good the England faithful have found another scape goat" Which they have and almost always do.

..and my post get's edited.?

I don't particularly love it when england loose, I just severely dislike the attitude of a vast majority of their fans, and their media.

Although I wouldnt wish death upon him, I find him a cheat and a dishonest person who should get whats coming to him.

if you watch the replay, rooney gets carvalho and now i look at it, it was a yellow card, the referee was stood inches away from the incident. He was able to make a decision but because of the players surrounding the referee, the main agressor being ronaldo, I feel the challenge was blown out of proportion. Rooney couldn't believe his own team mate was influencing the referee, which he was. Even if he claims he was saying 'this is a foul' the play had already stopped and the referee was in a position to see the whole incident. However Rooney has a temper and he was an idiot if he meant to stamp on the player. But in my opinion a foul should have been given before then for the two portugal players on him.

England didnt play well, but neither did portugal. The sending off of Rooney was a major factor in the game, and ultimately cost us. he would have certainly taken a penalty or crouch could have come on and we may have got a goal.

I think alot of people feel our chance of repeating the world cup dream of 66 was snatched away by a portuguese chav. It hurts alot and I don't blame ronaldo solely but I do blame him to a certain extent. It was only the last game that ronaldo was crying thinking his world cup was over. So to have no remorse about a club team mate get sent off is a disgrace. Whether he influenced or not, there was NO NEED for him to get involved.

If you don't agree, your entitled to your own opinion and so am i so don't dismiss it

Sending off of Rooney was a big factor my ass. You guys played better in 10 men and without Rooney and Beckham. Rooney stepped on his balls dude... and you don't know if Ronaldo was going there to take his defense. Rooney then pushed Ronaldo, earning him the red card... for his reaction. Why wasn't he a good team mate and not push Ronaldo. I'm sure he didnt have the time to listen to what Cristiano was saying. Rooney is the tough guy, and he is the one always jumping at people's throats. He's an excellant player, but you can't blame his elimination on Ronaldo.

Ronaldo was wrong to do what he did but the ref had already made his mind up and he was going to be sent off. Ronaldo did NOT get rooney sent off, ronneys lack of conrol did. This type of thing has happened in nearly every game this WC but its because its England and coz we went out people bloow it out of proportion. I think we should be focusing on how well the players did in the match and the passion and commitment they showed and not to let it be overshadowed by playacting and unsportsmenship behaviour like the portugese showed

well you can think and say what you want, when you talk about players controlling themselves why not watch holland vs portugal.

and you can say rooney was out of control. I think many would be after the constant play acting and the surrounding of the ref.

we arent ever gonna agree so theres no point in bad mouthing our team and players.

all i will say is rooney will be back in euro08

I'm not a fan of Portugal, I'm just giving the neutral point of view here. Ronaldo did nothing, and a ref never changes the card after some players gets in his face and says something. I like Rooney, I just don't approve of his behavior at times. Like I said, he's an excellant player, I do hope he will be back in euro 2008. And Ronaldo will be back in Euro 2008 as well.

If you think stamping on someones genitals is a yellow card then you are severely mistaken.

Rooney has a temper, it's on a knife edge all the time, you never know when it's going to slip out. I think Rooney was angry that the 2 portugal players sandwiched him to get the ball and didn't get a free kick his way. He steps on Ricardo Carvalho on purpose so yes, a yellow card. Cristiano Ronaldo tries his luck, Rooney should've just walked away and avoided the situation but no, Cristiano obviously said something to influence the referee so Wayne pushes him. A deserved sending off yes, Rooney shouldn't have stamped on the Portuguese player, Cristiano Ronaldo shouldn't have cheated to get the referee on his side and Rooney shouldn't have reacted. Simple. As Rooney started it and finished the reaction, and thats all it was that got him sent off, not the foul, it was his fault. All the Portugal players did was go to the referee, I'm sure the referees are professional enough to ignore whatever crap flies their way at this tournament. Although both sides were wrong, why did Portugal win? Because they bent the rules in their favour, it was clever. Neither side can feel good for themselves though. Oh, and if you didn't realise already, I'm English, and half of what I'm saying probably doesn't make sense .
