Default I'm rather confused...

I've read several 'Rants' now amongst other topics on these forums and it seems a huge number of people are suffering from the same affliction, whilst a huge number of rather smug yet sincerely conerned people are reassuring them that the game is not at fault, they're winning the games, and have experienced every success imaginable short of knobbing Keira Knightley.

I fall into the bracket of the former. I will admit quite freely that I've only managed Coventry in FM08, but this does mean that in the 100+ times i've played through the first couple of seasons I've managed to experiment with a vast number of tactics and players.

maybe it is my fault that i'm not aware enough, and although i managed to nail some good tactics on FM07 i can understand that 08 is and should be a different kettle of fish.

The cause of concern seems to be that despite trying out all the tactics under the sun, improving the squad across the board, ensuring dominent match statistics in all areas for a great majority of the games, and creating considerably larger amounts of higher quality chances, human players' teams seem to concede a far higher percentage of the chances than the other team.

I decided to experiment for complete seasons using a veriety of contrasting tactics, particularly relating to pace of the game, passing style, mentality, counter attacks, and formations. I tried them out for a season at a time using, where possible, the same players. I made note of several key statistics. Although the team didn't necessarily perform badly (final positions ranging from between 6th and 15th), the majority of matches resulted in seemingly unfair results after producing far superior performances. I even noted that AI teams were always awarded more penalties throughout a season, and that they dispatched a higher percentage of them.

The managers may be at fault for these 'issues', but the problem is it doesn't make ANY sense. The only real concrete evidence for this is that there are people who DON'T experience it. It would be perfectly acceptable if anythone could actually pinpoint the cause for this, but given the numerous systems that have been trialied, all with the same results, it leads people to wonder why it happens.

This isn't a rant, but more of an explanation of what the ranters are experiencing. Does anyone have a clue as to why so many people are going through this? I don't seem to see many people complaining that the game is too hard and that they are deservedly losing matches.

bug or no bug, im finding it rather difficult. So any help and suggestions would really come in handy.

hope this'll help.

--windowed

If you want to force the game to run in windowed mode then you pass it the --windowed command line option. If there is insufficient space available in windowed mode this will not work. A monitor that supports a maximum of 1024x768 will not have sufficient available desktop space for the game to run in the minimum required resolution of 1024x768 because the Windows taskbar takes up some space (as well as the FM window borders). In this case there is a workaround, see
