Greetings fellow FMers,
Not since the days of CM have I decided to really sit down and build a tactic from the floor up, but I thought now was as good a time as ever so here it is the who_dares_wins tactics.
Ovrview
Basically this is a set of three tactics for most situations, though truth be told I have found I have rarely had to change from the normal one, which is as follows:
[img=http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/9479/wdwtacticsud0.th.jpg]
SO thats the basic set up A 4-3-1-2 with sarrows for the forwards.
Team Instructions are:
These are based largely on my preferences so feel free to change them about as you see fit, I have found that the individual instructions can work better.
Massive thanks goes to the gaffovski here for his thoughts on the slider system Now I know everyone has their own ides on how to best implement the sliders and I have found that this way makes sense, in the normal tactic all my players are on a normal mentality, but, the attacking players are at the most attacking end of normal and the defensive players the most defensive. I have found that this gives greater team cohesion and I feel that my team really plays as a unit. The same goes for the attacking and defensive tactic but I'll go into more detail on them later.
So before I get into the nitty gritty of it I'll show you how the tactics have panned out in testing:
Aresnal:
League Table so far
Team:
Results:
Right so the first thing you are going to say is anyone can create a working tactic with Arsenal, and though I agree that anyone can create a tactic not every tactic works, this one is.
Besides Arsenal were the second team i tested it with the first team was Boca, who have much less quality then arsenal but who have also done very well.
Opening stage:
table overall:
I also won the Copa Sudamericana.
What I wanted
Basically I wanted the satisfaction of creating a effective and inning tactic and I think I have done that.
Also I wanted to see good football being played and that is what I'm seeing, the midfield is creative and the FR is scoring lots of goals the build up play is very attractive yet if needs be the FB can cross a ball from deep for a scrappy header or rebound. You may also find that as your forwards move out wide and come in with the ball you win allot of pens so thats an added feature as is the excellent disciplinary record, I think I have had one red card and not too many yellows.
Players and Requirements
Gk: well you all know a good goalie when you see one, good distribution and kicking are important especially for the defensive tactic.
FB: again nothing new, must be effective both ways good crossing is beneficial (obviously).
CD: good heading and jumping, as the corner routine will get goals if the right players are involved.
mc(left):A good passer and a willinmg runner here someone who can join in, in both attack and defense, I Have Biglia for Boca and Rosicky for Arsenal.
mc:arguably the most important person in this formation, this player will be the heartbeat of the team and a creaive linch pin, passing ability is essential shooting is also a bonus, Riquelme, Cesc, Pirlo, Toulalan, Seth Johnson(for LLM he is free I believe).
mc(right): the defensive player in the midfield so good marking and awareness concentration etc, Battaglia, Roberto, Gattuso, Flamini, Gilberto, Hargreaves etc
amc:technical ability is a must someone in a VDV mold, this player will get you bags of goals and assists as they are encouraged to run into the space left by the forwards moving out wide. If your a 'lesser' team just raid Brazil or france for some starlet like Menez, or Reanoto Augosto, Kerlon, Guilherme, etc. Diego Bounatte(spl?) is awesome from River and cheap, while your there have a look at Andres Rios

.
FL: Now you may have noticed that RVP hadn't scored many goals, nor did Palaco to be honest ( but his stats suck for finishing) they did however get 20 and 16 assists respectively which is mint for a forward.
FR:A big classic number ( just think Alan Shearer, Palermo Is my top scorer for Boca and Adebayor for Arsenal (who also got world footballer of the year) Your looking for someone big and powerful who can be awesome in the air and on the deck. Alen Kardec will be great here, If your a 'Big' Club just think of your Klose's and Luca Toni's etc, If your unsure go to Adebayor or Palermo etc and create a search from there profiles.
SO here is the normal one:
http://rapidshare.com/files/92433216/Who_dares_winsNRML...__Mar_2008_.tac.html Defensive
Simple really, my Amc becomes a DM and the sarrows are taken of the forwards the football becomes more direct, and counter attack is ticked, as is use target man, and playmaker is un-ticked.
I have had good results here when coming up against a teaam better then me, I was beaten 1-0 by Milan as Boca- which is a defeat yes but I was so close If there Keeper hadn't pulled off a couple of wonder saves I would have been world club champ.
Defensive:
http://rapidshare.com/files/92435604/Who_dares_winsDEF_...__Dec_2007_.tac.html Attacking
This is you guessed it more attacking with a farrow on the amc and more CF as well as a higher tempo. Works well when trying to get past a team who have slow it down to a more defensive approach.
Attacking:
http://rapidshare.com/files/92436216/Who_dares_winsATK_...__Feb_2008_.tac.html Sliders
As i said I like to keep my team on the same mentality ie defensive, normal, or attacking, but not necessarily the same within that mentality. As i explained with the normal setting my attacking players are at the most attacking end of which ever mentality, normal , defensive, attacking, and my defensive ones the opposite. I have found this has worked very well for me.
Set Pieces
There are allot of different ways to capitalise on set plays, corners especially, and this is my way.
left penalty area, right 6 yard box. (depends on the foot of taker, Riquelme is mostly right so I want my in swingers, left, to go pen area)
best header challenge gk,
2nd best attack near,
3rd best attack far,
4th best attack from deep,
fast striker with good anticipation stand on far, (jut in case the keeper drops it)
someone skillfull who can cross short option,
a good long shot taker, outside area,
everyone else back.
So that sit really if you do have ago with it let me know how you geton, and if you can think of ways to make it better I would love to listen to any suggestions.
Massive thnks go to Gaffovski for his ideas and Law_Man for his help in getting the best out of people, I am very grateful for there suggestions and time.
Thanks a bunch if you've read all through this and I hope it brings as much fun and success to anyone who tries is as it has me.
Best of Luck.
