Default SirToby's 361 Wonder Defence

Sir Toby's 361 Wonder Defence

I have used some days on creating a tactic. After tweaking some I think I'm close to the best result now. To start with, have a look at the formation:

As you can see above the formation will chance to 5-4-1 when you is out of possession and the opponent aren't pleased with this. They are constantly forced to shoot from distance, why a keeper with good stats in this could be great. Most of the time the opponent don't have the ability to score with long shots, which means that you rarely will concede goals. When you do concede goals it will often be after/on set pieces.

Most important things to mention:

Creative Freedom
DC: 1
DMCs: 3

The small triangle (the central defender and the two defensive midfielders) are only up to defence. By that no risks shall be taken and they shall not be doing anything on their own hand.

Forward Runs
DC: Rarely
DMCs: Rarely

As said shall the central defender and the two defensive midfielders nearly only stand on their own half and they shall not make forward runs. This should prevent counter attack from the opponent. I haven't yet experienced a successful counter from the opponent.

Mentality
DC: 6
DR/L: 6
DMC: 6

This should sure a flat chain with five players and by that the opponent will have it difficult to break through and often their attack end with a long shot which most of the time ends out to your advantage.

Defend Corners
If the opponent score it's often after set pieces and to reduce the chance for conceding goals on corner, set two men on the nearest post. I think the opponents corners often are sent to the nearest post, why it's a good idea to place a back-up man here.

I have so far tried it with Valencia and I have got these results: http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...1wdmatches.png. 16 matches where 12 goals have been conceded over 14 wins, one draw and one single defeat. Not specially impressive but still, because a big part of the conceded goals were after set pieces. Zaragoza, Betis, Recreativo og Getafe all scored a goal after a penalty kick, and as I remember there have also been least one mistake in the defence.

Now it's up to you whether you will try or not. It could be nice to see how it works for you and how big a success it will be. At least you could just download my tactic and see all the other details and have you sayings. The tactic can be downloaded here.

I will try this with Man Utd and get some results later. Someone should try with a low league team, might be more effective for them

Totally agree that it could be more effective for lower teams.

After playing with this tactic a few times, I don't think this is a tactic for attacking teams. The lone striker is poorly supported. I had to make a lot of changes for it to suit my team.

However, if you are playing with a lower league team, I would recommend this.
