Default Can anyone help me get my team to play like Arsenal?!!

Just loaded up the 8.0.2 patch and about to start a new game...not actually with Arsenal, but I'll be trying to find similar players, with good fitness, pace and passing characteristics that should suit a Wenger/Gooner style of play. Question is, how should I set up my team in terms of team and individual tactical settings to get that beautiful fast, counter-attacking, passing game that we all love to watch?!

In FM07, I found that WWFan's 442 RoO Att worked really nicely, keeping the passing accuracy high, the possession high and playing attractive football, but it doesn't seem to work quite so well in FM08. Or maybe that was just with patch 8.0.1? Dunno.

Anyway, if anyone can give me some tips, tactics or suggestions on how to recreate the Arsenal style of play in FM08 on the latest patch I'd really appreciate the help!

Cheers!

Im pretty sure my tactic qualifies as arsenal tactics and even better Adebayor has got 17 Goals in 9 games but on topic i might release the tactic if this season goes well and i havent signed anyone aswell just the original arsenal team

i usually use direct passing reasonably fast tempo not too fast though i get the wingers too cut in and have free role and now since this season i have crosses onto often for the full backs and have them pushing up the pitch i hope this helps somewhat

Cheers fella. Let me know how you get on with it! Would be interested to know how you've got things set up if it works consistently...

Hmmmm...that's the thing I have a problem with in my head. All the tactical guides say to use direct passing with counter attacking, but to me Arsenal really do play the short ball game most of the time, so combining short passing, with quick tempo AND counter attacking, which all the tactical advice would suggest is not possible?

Any thoughts anyone?!

High First Touch, Technique & Decisions. Fast Tempo, Wide, Short Passing to the Wingers, AMC & Strikers. DM/MC & Defenders with Mixed.

Nice one! I'll give it a go. Do you have the team set generally to counter attack or not?

the way i have it works absolutely fine i prefer to play direct passing because i dont think long ball works and arsenal dont play it if you have the tempo too fast strikers dont have the chance to react and miss lots of chances so i have them play just in the fast sectio of the tab and i put fabregas as playmaker and i dont usually put counter attacking on

Its only a suggestion, but how about much, very much time wasting at the most extreme setting for time wasting in a match.

So you've counter attacking, you've short passing, creativity up a notch for the most talented of the team & time wasting.

My take is that player will still pass it short will take there time to allow for off the ball running because of the time wasting.

If set to short passing, and quick play, they more likley to pass to an oppossition player maybe rush the pass so to speak.

But here lies the quandary. Counter attacking, is direct line of play, its defence splitting long passes, with great counter attacking off the ball running and long passes.

I see a challenge ahead. Though I have seen with my own eyes, Arsenal-esk play, by the occasional inspiring team talk that got them all fired up believing that they were actually the Brazil national team its what I've seen.

Its going to be tough to fine tune that style of play.
