Default Removing Rio's Ban - then game crashes!

OK after asking around these forums I finally decided to make a copy of Rio Ferdinand in the editor and delete the original, as apparently people have done this and it removes his global ban, but as soon as I did this and started a new game to test it, it kept crashing! On 'setting up game database' it loads about a 1/5 of the way, stops for a minute, continues then suddenly crashes to desktop. I'm worried cos I can't remember backing up my database, has deleting the original Rio ruined my database? People have said it works! Has anyone else experienced this? HELP!

'Cloning' Rio and deleting the original definitely works without problem... your data must have been corrupted by some other problem.

Presumably (and hopefully) you backed up your data first? Otherwise, it's a re-install.

No I didn't do a back up I never do! So I know I only have myself to blame! But yes I have done loads of editing, trying to get Premiership updated for a new season, it was just that it crashed straight after I did the Rio thing, though now I think about it, it's the first time I've tested the game in a while! Maybe I've done too much editing then, so at least making a back-up wouldn't have helped as I had more planned. Anyway I'll take this as a blessing in disguise as the editing was taking over my free time! Maybe now I'll just sit back and wait for FM2006!
