I'm playing in the Championship, and have a fairly decent squad, but have a serious problem with the amount of goals I concede.

This problem seems to mainly exist when I'm playing away matches.

So far this season I've played 4 home matches, winning 3, and conceding 4 goals, which isn't really a problem.

However, away from home, I've played 6, lost 6, and conceded 26 goals - more than 4 per match on average! Even game away from home I'm not having trouble scoring, with 4-3, 7-4, 6-2 defeats to different teams.

I've tried playing 5-4-1 instead of my usual 4-4-2, but had no success, and it merely results in my goals drying up.

Like I said, I don't think the players I'm selecting are the big problem, as they seem to be doing the business at home matches!

So it must be my tactics I guess? Any advice on how to stop conceding so many away goals? Thanks

Try going to the tactics forum, they'll be better help than us. And what team are you? When it comes to Jan, I suggest you buy a CB or two, like Nasuti or Gioda or McLean. Or try going more defensive away, make the opposition battle it away in midfield by playing in a 4-5-1 or 4-1-4-1 formation, so your defence have some support.

I'm Norwich on the latest patch at the moment, but I've signed a few defenders, including:

LB - Dixon (Dundee), Mulgrew (Wolves)
RB - Sarghi (?), Gilbert (loan from Arsenal)
CB - Mardare (?), Noordveite (loan from Arsenal)

Also have 2 very decent new goalkeepers, as well as David Marshall, so no problems in that area really!

Wanted to build a young team from scratch, so sold a couple of older Norwich players such as Adam Drury.

I had the same problem with Norwich, signed some good defenders (Jack Hobbs, Scott Cuthbert, Leigh Mills, Ayoze) and I was fine.

The transfer window is shut for now, but I'll try and add 1 or 2 extra defenders on loan.

I'd like to take Hobbs, but he's at Scunthorpe, so will probably raid Newcastle/Chelsea reserves!
