Default Questions For SI (Ask inside)

[bThis thread is for the tactic's and training side of the game only[/b]

PaulC is going to answer some of our questions, so if you've got something you want to ask about tactics, match engine, training etc then ask in here and I'll pass them all on.

If you ask a question, try and make it clear to understand and try and make it have some depth. All the better questions will then get passed to SI.

So fire away

It may sounds a silly question but it's something that's been at the back of my mind.

In the match engine, is it affected more by stats or current/potential ability? What I mean is, a few times I have a really good player with really good stats(world class) and his performances are bettered by a player with alot worse stats but with a better potential ability?

So I guess to sum up, in the match engine does it take account of a players PA which gives it a higher performance than the stats show? Or is it just a case of a good run of form.

Like I said it's a silly question but something that has been bothering me.

why the game shots 1 and scores 1 but we players shot 30 and only score 1 ? its ok if that happens rarely, but why does it happen in most of the matches?

Is the "gets crowd going" a useful prefered move ? I have never seen anything on the pitch.

"Wind up opponents" is this the same as low sportsmanship ?

Please explain what the freerole option is good for. I cant see a difference on player movement when this option is on(if he got 1 or 20 it doesnt matter).

What is the difference between hard, mixed and easy tackling, is it linked to player aggression ? I meen when a player is set to tackle easy but he got 20 aggression - will he then back up and just follow the opponent ?

Your question was answered here Link

If you don't read the thread, it boils down to stats only

I'd love to know how to get strikers to sit on the shoulder of the oppos def.

Do you have them set to manmark tight or not, and does closing down have anything to do with how tight they get to their man or where the ball is on the pitch before the closing down comes into play.

Thanks.

Are set pieces particularly difficult to program into the match engines.

Corners in particular seem to go from one extreme to the other. In the past we had the player lurking on the edge of the area, scoring hatfuls of goals during a season, then the guy on the near post flick, and now it seems that the guy set to challenge GK is unstoppable. On one of the earlier versions of FM08 the guy on the near post was heading the ball out of play 9/10.

Also with direct free kicks we also seem to go through versions where everything hits the wall, or at the moment on 8.02 where even Blue Square South players turn into David Beckham.

I'm also seeing a lot of indirest free-kicks hit straight out for goal kicks as well, although this could be be my players/settings.

I don't raise this as a big gripe, as overall I like the new match engine, just over the last few years set-pieces to seem to have issues.

A question regarding the weather and the effect it has on match results.

I set up my tactic's passing, tempo and to some extent closing down based on the weather conditions on match day could you tell me how much positive/negative impact this has on the result if you get it correct or incorrect i.e +5%/10% when getting it correct or -5%/10% when getting it wrong e.g high tempo/closing down in very hot conditions.
