Default Can I edit an existing team or should I create a new club?

First time post in this forum. My apologies if this topic is already covered for 08. I seem to find stuff for older versions of the game and/or threads from 2006 or previous years using the search filters in this forum.

Brief background: I finally figured out how to do the official workarounds for 8.02. I discovered it was easy to do. It was incredibly fascinating to learn about the various details that are involved with this game. It is so detailed, it's almost overwhelming (especially when it comes to creating a new club).

This got me thinking of a less overwhelming way to create a club that is just promoted into the lowest division of an existing league (similar to Dafuge's challenge without waiting a year and having a crappy chairman).

Essentially, I want to keep intact all of the existing players, staff, and club history of an already existing recently promoted club of a nation's lowest league division.

I only want to modify the club's name, the chairman's name, the maximum future expansion capacity of the stadium, The stadium's name, the chairman's non-player attributes (business, interference, resources, patience and similar to a premier team in the nation's top league), the starting reputation of the club (keeping it similar to other clubs in same division of the lowest level league), attractiveness of the city, and adding a small percentage of hardcore fans (10%) to start off the game.

I think that by using the edit buttons for an existing club, I'll be able to "create a new club" easily. However, you folks are the experts and might be able to point out any mistakes I might be making before I get too involved in a long term career.

Am I on the right track?

Yes you are on the right track, dressing up an existing club for a new identity to take their place.

You will only be dressing up the existing club though like I said, so you will keep the same players, staff and etc. You can release all the players if you want your club to start without players.

Yes, I did the same thing, changing Braintree in BSS to my fictitious club. I made similar changes, except that I expunged all the personel, and gave myself a large budget to recruit players and staff.

It's great fun and not too difficult. Originally, I spent untold hours creating a whole new league but it crashed, so I'd definitely recommend just tweaking an existing team like you suggest.
