It pains me nowadays to see so many managers sacked and replaced with ones with no pedigree - Along with the chairman trusting someone with millions who has never managed before.

Take Chris Hutchings for example, He suceeded a successful Paul Jewell, had millions to spend and was sacked within a couple of weeks. His olny past experience was a bad one with Bradford with him having a torrid time there and left soon after.

Compare him with Martin O'Neill who started his managerial career at Grantham Town then became manager at Shepshed Carterhouse and worked his way up the leagues with Leicester and Wycombe Wanderers and moved to Scotland to gain a lot of experience with Celtic, Now look at the job he is doing with Aston Villa and a lot of that is to do with experience.

Chris Hutchings was thrust in with the big boys and got sacked and not only lost some dignity , he lost a comfortable job as assistant manager and has not been heard from since.

Lets compare Aston Villa with Middlesbrough. Both spending similar amounts of money on players, but you'll find it is Villa who are the more sucessful club at the moment. Gareth Southgate with no experience splashing millions of pounds on average players (Tuncay anyone?) According to Middlesbrough fans he has made a lot of tactical mistakes that have cost them points, which is all to do with experience which you get by working your way up the leagues. Martin O'Neill did it and look where he is now!

Clubs are wasting money and ruining their clubs chances by installing managers with lack of experience, I just wish they would spend time looking for managers with pedigree instead of jumping the gun and appointing and subsequently sacking their managers.

I agree with what your saying. If somebody had a big name as a player, they're automatically guarenteed a managerial position at a top club if they want it.

I guarantee you i know alot more about football than Jamie Redknapp but because of his name and the fact he can name drop his dad his cousin John Terry etc etc he gets a job when i wouldn't even get an interview. This works the same for managers and its ridiculous. Two of the best managers in the world were virtual nobodies as footballers, Sir Wenger and Mourinho, but still people insist on employing ex-players as soon as they retire. Everyone should work up from non-league to gain the required experience.
