Default Re: Martins committed to Magpies

This is more anti-newcastle reporting by the north east hating media.

Niether Martins or Keegan ever soke of Martins leaving so why was it even suggested?

All the papers have done is talk crap about us all season.

The fans jumped the gun on Allerdyce etc. Yeah, because we looked as though we were going forward playing 6 in defence against fellow relegation strugglers.

"He shouldn't go back a second time" - about Keegan.
"Keegan has a harder job this time." - he took over last time when we were in division 2 and saved us from relegation to div 3 on the last day of the season. From then on we got promoted every season to the premier league and got into Europe in our first season, then were 12pts clear in the 2nd season in the premier league before we messed it up.

"Keegan is unhappy with the appointment of wise" - only to find out, it was Keegan who asked for him.

Where's Wisey? The final instalment of the day-by-day account of a London-based Newcastle executive director (football) | the Daily Mail They get paid to do that...

"Michael Owen doesn't like Keegan." Going on about 5 words or so out of hundreds of thousands in Owens biography.

There was also something in the papers going on about our fans and where we were when we were in the lower leagues. Apart from one season, our overage attendances were above 30k including when we were relgeated. The season we didn't do that was the season when ticket prices rose because the premier league was born the season before.

Even with the low average of 16k+, we beat the likes of lead who with a much bigger population and in the same division got less than us. The likes of Norwich who have a bigger population got and still get a lot less than us.

Which club anywhere in the world has won nothing for 50+ years, has been down to the third tier of tfootball in their country, is staring relegation in the face and still gets 52k sell out against Fulham - where we have to sell their tickets too because they can't.

Which other club apart from maybe Man Utd and Liverpool have taken 7k+ to Blackburn? 5k for 8hrs (due to road works) to Arsneal? And then returned 4 days later with a max allocation sell-out of 3k to the same ground for a league game?

This anti-Newcastle thing from the media is consistant and we as a group of supporters are well aware of it. We talk about it and we don't take in a word they say.

All I can say is listen to the fact and nothing else!

Default Liverpool co-owners reveal split

Gillett (left) and Hicks have become unpopular among Liverpool fans
Fresh doubts have been raised over the future of Liverpool after co-owner George Gillett revealed relations with partner Tom Hicks are now "unworkable".

BBC Sport understands Hicks is aiming to take sole control of the club, while investment group Dubai International Capital also wants to invest.

But Gillett said: "This partnership has been unworkable for some time."

It means, says Gillett, that selling his share of the club to Hicks is now "an untenable alternative".

He added: "We were very fair. We gave our partner a long period of time to try to make arrangements to buy us out.

"We didn't put pressure on him but he ultimately did not get to the finish line.

"In the meantime, because of the things he said, the fans' reaction has been so negative towards him - and towards us if we sold to him - that has now made that an untenable alternative for us.

"When your public persona is more important than the facts, it's tough to have a rational relationship."

In a lengthy interview with radio station Fan590 in Canada, Gillett went on to say:

"(The fans) do not want him (Hicks) to have any controlling interest in this club - they do not even want him to have any ownership in the club."

"He (Hicks) threatened to block me selling to Dubai - that was certainly one of the things that made the fans upset."

"It's been very difficult for my wife - we receive many phone calls in the middle of the night threatening our lives - death threats."

"Instead of thinking about selling I might think about buying."

"The pieces on the chess board are moving", regarding his plans for his stake in the club.
However, despite the threats, Gillett revealed he and his son Foster - a club director - intend to travel to England to attend one of the upcoming games against Arsenal next week.

Icon9 Jaaskkelainen Will Miss Rest Of Campaign

goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen will miss the remainder of the club's season with a back problem.

The 32-year-old Finland international was absent from Wanderers' Barclays Premier League defeat by Wigan Athletic at the JJB Stadium on Sunday.

Oman goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi has taken over from Jaaskelainen and played in the 1-0 defeat, and Megson also has the experienced Ian Walker at his disposal.

Megson told Home | Bolton Wanderers 'He needs six weeks of rest to try and resolve this problem, and he is going to need some form of surgery.

'Either way, his season is over.'

I like Jussi. Shame is season is over.

Typical lying media.

Defender Steve Finnan is close to a return after a groin problem while Yossi Benayoun and John Arne Riise are pushing for a place in the side.
Andrew Johnson (groin) is Everton's main doubt for the Merseyside derby.
Steven Pienaar's fitness will be assessed after illness but Victor Anichebe should be be fit to play.

Interview: Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez

Liverpool squad: Reina, Arbeloa, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Skrtel, Riise, Arbeloa, Babel, Benayoun, Gerrard, Alonso, Lucas, Torres, Kuyt, Voronin, Crouch, Pennant, Itandje.
Everton squad: Howard, Hibbert, Neville, Yobo, Jagielka, Lescott, Baines, Valente, Arteta, Osman, Carsley, Pienaar, Fernandes, Anichebe, Yakubu, Johnson, Wessels, Rodwell.

BIG-MATCH FACTS
The 178th Merseyside league derby is also a head-to-head clash for fourth place in the Premier League and the final Champions League qualifying spot. Liverpool currently hold fourth, Everton are fifth two points behind, and both have seven to play.
Liverpool have only finished outside the top five in one of the last 13 seasons, and outside the top four once in four years; Everton have never had successive top-half finishes in the Premier League era, and are 10 points better off at this stage than last season.
The Toffees have won one more league game than the Reds this term (17 to 16), yet are one place below them.
Liverpool had won seven games on the trot (all competitions) going into last Sunday's fixture. They then dropped points for the first time in six outings when losing 3-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford, but have won their last five at Anfield.
Liverpool need to score once to total 100 goals in all competitions this season.
Everton have won only two of the last 16 Merseyside derbies against Liverpool, and have not taken away three points from Anfield since their 0-1 victory on 27 September 1999, when Kevin Campbell got the winner.
This Merseyside derby precedes three successive clashes with Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals and Premier League for Liverpool, starting with the European tie at the Emirates on Wednesday.

Default Sven Wants trophy for city {skysports}

Sven wants trophy for City
Eriksson plans long stay at club

Sven Goran Eriksson admits he would take 'great satisfaction' from winning a trophy with Manchester City.

The Swede took charge of the Premier League club last summer and was set a three-year timescale to take City into the UEFA Champions League.

Eriksson is content with his team's progress and the former England head coach is planning a long tenure at the City of Manchester Stadium.

"I'm not saying that I want a new contract, but of course I can see myself staying a long time," said Eriksson in The Sun. "I like it here very much - apart from the weather.

"I like it because it's a project. It's something that we all want to do well together in. I'm in the Premier League, I'm at a big club. I am very happy here.

"Will I need more than two years to bring success? That could happen, but we still have two years to go."

Winning Is Best

City have failed to win a major trophy for over 30 years and Eriksson is determined to end the club's silverware drought.

He has secured success at many of his previous clubs, but believes winning something with City would rank among his finest achievements.

"Winning trophies in football is one of the best things you can do," added Eriksson. "If trophies come here it would be even better than to win with Benfica.

"It would give me great satisfaction because we know we are working with a club that hasn't won anything for a very long time.

"If you can win with a club like that it is worth more than at a club like Benfica, who are supposed to win trophies every year."
Would be nice to see, sadly, i cannot see it happening.
