Default Barca fight for Assulin

Quote:
Israeli starlet Gai Assulin is ready to shun English interest to remain at Barcelona.

The 16-year-old midfielder made history on Wednesday evening when he became his country's youngest ever international when he came on for Yossi Benayoun during their 1-0 win over Chile.

Assulin is one of the leading lights at La Masia - Barca's youth academy - and is currently featuring for their B side.

Barcelona are determined to hand him an extended contract and a three-year deal is waiting for him but once again the Catalunyan giants are being forced to fend off interest from the Premier League in one of their prized youngsters.
Quote:
Chelsea and Manchester City are both understood to have made enquiries with his agent Pini Zahavi in recent weeks, and he admits they are amongst the interested clubs - but he also insists Assulin is more than happy at Barca.

"Those teams are interesting and we will never say no," Zahavi is quoted in the Daily Star.

"But Gai feels good in Barcelona."

Previously both Arsenal and Tottenham were said to have made offers for the young talent.

Never Heard of this Player, so

Quote:
Assulin started his career in the Beitar Tubruk youth ranks, in 2003, when he was just 12, his team coach back-then Shlomo Scharf, proposed Guy's parents to consider taking their young prospect to try out for Barcelona's youth ranks, they did, and Gai was accepted.

Assulin has long been considered one of the best prospects in the world, and Barcelona have rejected offers from Arsenal and Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

On August 2007, Assulin graduated to the FC Barcelona B team, and was offered a new contract, a senior contract (a contract granted only after the player turns 16) for another 3 years and a €20M buy-out clause.

On September 5 2007 when he was only 16-years old Assulin made his senior debut with the first team against Girona FC in the semi-final of the Copa Catalunya, entering in the 46th minute of the game.[1]

Gai was recently called up by the Israel national football team for their friendly match against Chile. He debuted for Israel by replacing Yossi Benayoun in the 78th minute of the friendly.[2] By playing in this match, he broke Ben Sahar's record for youngest national team debut by 195 days.[3]

Looks quite good, noticed he is the youngest player to play for Israel.
