Default Ronaldo loses rag with Man Utd

Cristiano Ronaldo has lost patience with Manchester United, according to sources close to the player.

United have taken a bullish stance over Real Madrid's aggressive pursuit of the Portuguese superstar, briefing over the weekend that Ronaldo (left) was starting to accept he will not be allowed to leave this summer.

But a close friend told the Mirror: "Ronaldo has made his mind up now and feels it is just time to wait before he announces what he will do - which is to go to Madrid."

Real are prepared to plus Brazilian attacking midfielder Robinho once Ronaldo clarifies his intention to quit English football.

And he has made it clear that United's tactics will not work.

"The announcement about Cristiano's future will be the next step, but it won't happen until the end of Euro 2008 for him and Portugal," added the insider.

"At the moment he's trying to work out what United are playing at and why they're saying what they're saying, because it's simply not right.

"He is determined to be the master of his own future.

"The decision has been made and now it's a case of everybody getting in position for the future - even if United aren't yet ready to sit down and talk to Real."

Ronaldo looks to be going for sure now. Apparantly Manchester United might place a bid for Tottenham's Berbatov. But since Real Madrid are going to place Robinho in the transfer then we will not need another attacker.

I do not think Robinho is going to be added in any forthcoming offer from Real Madrid, it seems like he either wants to stay at Madrid or perhaps go to Chelsea because of Scolari. Apprently he was angry that Madrid wanted to involve him in the transfer. Personally, I cannot see the transfer going ahead this summer and I believe it will happen next summer instead.

I don't see why ManUtd are going in for Berbatov either, he won't start with Tevez and Rooney there as much, and he needs that starting place to get on form and start scoring goals, he is not really a "sub" or "squad" sort of player.

I haven't heard this about Robinho but we still need a sub because Man Utd's Louis Saha is not the best in the world. Wayne Rooney or Carlos Tevez might get injured/banned therefore we need another striker.

I would love it if Man Utd could place a bid for Berbatov because I think he has an amazing talent and is at a really good age.

Listen to this
Quote:
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted Cristiano Ronaldo will be at Old Trafford next season and will not be joining Real Madrid.

Ferguson met the winger - now out for three months following ankle surgery - in Lisbon last week after speculation about the 23-year-old's future.

"It went well. We put across our points of view, where we stand and where the player stands," explained Ferguson.

"I can say he'll be a Manchester United player next season. He won't be sold."

United will hope that Ferguson's comments at a press conference during the club's pre-season tour of South Africa will put an end to rumours linking Ronaldo with a switch to the Spanish champions.

Ferguson added: "It's not a difficult position. I was on my holiday and I was not going to interrupt my holiday, believe me.

"What we have done well is to say nothing. We've kept quiet on this matter and kept it private and what I said to Cristiano remains private."

Ronaldo, who scored 42 goals for United last season and whose contract runs until 2012, is currently recuperating after his surgery, which ruled him out of United's trip to South Africa.

Ferguson confirmed: "I did go and see him last week in Portugal and it was very amicable - there were no problems. That's where we are and we carry on.

"He's on crutches for the first four weeks, he'll be in rehabilitation for the next four and then the following four he'll be back into football training.

"The time mapped out is three months and we won't bring him back a day earlier than that.

"I think when players have operations we have a responsibility that the player comes back 100% and we'll carry that out as we normally do.

"There'll be no risk-taking - we never take risks. Our goal is to always make sure that the player gets back 100% and that will be the same in the case of Cristiano Ronaldo."
I'm happy now

Another reason for me to be happy:
Quote:
I will stay at Man Utd - Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will remain a Manchester United player for "at least one more year".

The 23-year-old Portugal winger had frequently expressed his desire to leave for Spanish champions Real Madrid this summer.

But he told Portuguese paper Publico: "Manager Sir Alex Ferguson heard my arguments, I heard his and it was felt the best thing would be for me to stay.

"I can confirm that next season I will play for Manchester United."

Ferguson, speaking after the club's goalless friendly with Juventus on Wednesday, said he was "pleased" Ronaldo was staying.

And Ferguson gave a revealing insight into how he dealt with the Ronaldo transfer saga, which resulted in two months of frenzied speculation over whether the player would leave.

"I flew to Portugal some weeks ago and we cleared the air and he spoke to some of the players," Ferguson told MUTV.

"The boy has been through a troubled time in terms of the approaches from Spain but once he knew my stance, he then settled down.
